Frequently Asked Questions

What do you look for during the evaluations?

Our evaluations are a simple half hour to an hour assessment of how your dog reacts and behaves in basic daycare and lodging situations. (i.e. kennel behavior, play activity, and overall wellness). The main aspect we look for is how your pup is with our dogs and our employees. Safety and well being of every pup and employee is our main priority at Ruff Life.

How do I schedule an evaluation?

For the time being we ask that you either give us a call or stop by the facility to book/schedule an eval. As we are still in the process of setting up an online option on our website and socials.

Are you hiring?

We are always accepting applications as there are many options regarding them. You can stop by the facility and fill out a physical copy or you can fill out an online copy and either print it out and give it to an employee/owner at the facility or simply email it. We also offer the option of messaging us on our Facebook as well as our other socials and we can help you out there as well. We should start to conduct more interviews as summer nears.

Does my dog have to be spayed/neutered?

We require all dogs to be spayed and or neutered. For safety concerns and well being of both the pups and their owners every dog in our facility is or must be spayed/neutered before any lodging/daycare. The pups often play in groups and socialize with other dogs throughout the day and in order to keep things from getting out of hand we have this requirement.

What forms/documents does my dog need regarding vaccinations?

All guests must be current on Rabies (1 or 3 year), Bordetella (Canine/Kennel Cough), Distemper (1 or 3 year), K9 Influenza (recommended but not required).

What happens if my dog is injured or ill during their stay?

When dogs play, they use their paws and mouths, and it is similar to fighting or wrestling. In rare instances, playing goes too far and a dog can get bitten or scratched. Rest assured that we take the safety of the dogs in our care very seriously and take all the precautions to prevent and avoid injury. Our staff is constantly assessing the dog’s health while in our care. In the event your dog is injured or becomes ill while at What a Ruff Life they will be treated onsite immediately and if necessary, will be transported to a local emergency veterinary facility

Can I check up on my dog while I’m away?

Absolutely! We are happy to provide updates on your dog’s activities and overall well-being.

Do I need to bring anything with my dog when they board?

There is no need or requirement to bring anything as we can and will provide house food ($3 per scoop) and beds, as well as any other needs and accommodations necessary. Often many of our customers like to bring their pups beds, toys, food, treats, and other items that help their pup relax or make the kennel feel as much like their home as possible. We encourage you to bring what you feel is necessary for your pups stay. We also will handle any and all medical and medicine requirements provided by the owner.

What does my dogs daily schedule look like when boarding?

Time                                           Activity
6:30 am: Wake-up, outside then playtime
8:00 am:   Into cabana for breakfast
9:00 am:  Back to playtime
12:00 pm: In for nap time/snack time
2:00 pm: Afternoon playtime
5:00 pm: Into cabana for dinner

Can I see the facility where may dog will be playing in and/or lodging in?

Absolutely! We provide a tour of the facility to all our new customers as well as provide two large viewing windows in our lobby that see into our play area.

Can my dog pick up communicable illnesses?

Anytime there is a communicable type of environment, it is always possible. Dogs in daycare, like children, can pass things to each other through water sources and playing. The best way to prevent and detect these issues is to regularly see your veterinarian and keep your dog home if exhibiting any symptoms of illness.

How do you know if dogs will do well in playtime?

Guests are separated based on their individual needs and personality. We evaluate our guests based on age, size, weight, temperament, and playstyle. Our assessment starts with your dog’s profile and their initial evaluation.

Why is there rest time?

We feel that rest time is crucial for overnight and daycare guests to ensure they have a break from friends and an opportunity to rest and rehydrate. Rest time also allows for any guests who require lunch and/or snack time.

Do I need to make a reservation?

For overnight lodging, we recommend at least 1-2 weeks ahead of time. You do not need reservations for day care or self-wash.
